Race Week

Race week is finally here! I wish that meant I had all this free time on my hands but for some reason the workouts are never as easy or as short as I remember.

When thinking of taper, I always compare it to people who are stranded or critically injured, waiting for rescue, and when help finally arrives that’s when they give up. So I hang on waiting for taper, my life-line, and when it finally arrives I feel the body start to give up…or maybe it’s the mind.

Everything is magnified in taper, I’m more tired, more busy, but I can never tell if that’s real or if I’m just losing it mentally.

Anyhow, I’m just complaining to complain I think because I’m actually really looking forward to Ironman Chattanooga, my last race of the season. Thursday I’ll meet my mom as she connects through DC from Boston, my designated chaperone for the weekend, and we’ll hop on a flight to Chattanooga. This trip will be a little different than our trip last year to Ironman Malaysia, but I’m pretty sure we can find a spa and Champagne in any city.

Short post this week, but I expect I’ll have just a little bit more next weekend. See you on the other side.
